Toddler Car Seats

Your child needs a new car seat, but your priorities are the same: safety and comfort. That’s why we’ve put together a select range of the best toddler car seats, including well-known brands such as Maxi Cosi and Britax, so you can be sure your child is snug and protected wherever you drive.

Which Car Seat is Safest for Toddlers?

Now that your child is a toddler, you no longer have to worry so much about their airways and spinal development in the car seat. That means your primary concerns are safety in the event of a traffic incident, and comfort and convenience in the car itself.

Toddler car seats are designed to cushion your child and offer solid impact protection. They’re separated into different groups (sometimes referred to as car seat stages) so you can be sure you’re choosing the right toddler car seat for your child.

Car seat stages explained

Group 0+

Group 0+ car seats are designed to support your newborn until they are just over a year old.

Age: Birth-15 months

Weight: Birth to 13 kg/40 lb)

Group 1

A Group 1 car seat is installed in the car using the adult seat belt, but uses a separate five-point harness to secure your child in place. Both rear-facing and forward-facing positions are possible.

Age: 9 months-4 years

Weight: 9-18 kg (20-40 lb)

Group 2

Group 2 seats are larger than Group 1, often using an adult seat belt to secure your child.

Age: 4-6 years

Weight: 15-25 kg (33-55 lb)

Group 3

Group 3 seats are booster seats, lifting your child up to a safe height so they can use an adult seat belt.

Age: 4-10 years

Weight: 22-36 kg (48-76 lb)

You’ll also see car seats that advertise a number of groups, such as Group 0+/1 or 1/2/3. These car seats can adapt and convert to support children within multiple groups, meaning the car seat lasts longer and potentially saves you money.

When Can a Child be Forward-facing in a Car?

Children can legally sit in a forward-facing position in a car from the age of 15 months. That said, a rear-facing position offers better protection for your child. Some countries keep their children rear-facing until they are four or even older.

We offer a number of toddler car seats that can be installed in a rear-facing position, forward-facing, or both, so you can decide what’s right for you and your toddler.
